Project summary:
We reviewed more than three decades of research on the health of UK Armed Forces service women to understand what is known, where evidence is lacking, and how future research can improve healthcare, wellbeing, and military policy.
This review identified and examined 132 studies published between 1990 and 2026, providing the first comprehensive overview of health research involving UK Armed Forces service women. While research has grown considerably, important gaps remain in women’s health, healthcare access, and underrepresented populations, highlighting priorities for future research, policy, and clinical practice across Defence.
